Honorary Chair by Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the Geneva Summit will take place in parallel with the annual session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Organized by an international coalition of 20 NGOs, the Geneva Summit will provide a voice for the voiceless and advocate for action on urgent human rights situations. The summit will feature victim testimonies from renowned human rightsdefenders, dissidents and experts, and produce draft resolutions for the UN Human Rights Council to adopt.

This isn’t strictly a Five Minutes for Israel item except by default. There are sessions on Sudan, Internet Freedom, Arbitrary arrest, Africa and sexual rights and China. Exactly the issues the UN Human Rights Council should be dealing with.

Israel advocates should be specially interested in the session on  Revolution in the Middle East

The Panel:
– Dalia Ziada, Egyptian blogger and human rights activist, Director of the Egypt Office of the American Islamic Congress.
– Mahmoud Salem, Egyptian blogger, founder of the popular Egyptian blog: “Rantings of a Sandmonkey”.
– Mohammed Eljahmi, Libyan dissident
Lina Ben Mhenni, Tunisian Blogger, founder of the blog “A tunisian girl”, which was banned by the Ben Ali regime
