Let them return?
Two must-see videos.
When I’m asked why Israel doesn’t let the Palestinian refugees return to their homes I usually give a long and perhaps boring lecture on what that means. Thanks to the excellent work from MEMRI I may just play these videos instead.
I suppose no one asked these two if criticism of Israel doesn’t make you an antisemite?
Some choice quotes from the transcript:
Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis Al-Astal: The [Jews] are brought in droves to Palestine so that the Palestinians – and the Islamic nation behind them – will have the honor of annihilating the evil of this gang. Al-Astal wants a Caliphate with its capital in Jerusalem. Won’t Mecca feel a little left-out?
Sara Muhammad ‘Awwadh Jaber 92-year-old-‘refugee’ from Hebron: Allah willing, you will bury [Israel], and massacre the Jews with your own hands. Allah willing, you will massacre them like we massacred them in Hebron. I may never help an old woman across the street again!
I’ve put the word ‘refugee’ in quotes, not to point out that Palestinians, uniquely among refugees, pass that status to all descendants but to note that if she was living in Hebron and still living in Hebron, she didn’t lose her home and therefore isn’t a ‘refugee’ by the UNRWA definition. I wonder how she experienced the entire Nakba.
