The Mercosur is falling

The Mercosur is falling

Argentina and Brazil have decided to recognize an independent Palestinian state within the borders defined in 1967

What will Brazil and Argentina be recognising? A state by definition† must have a defined territory on which it exercises internal and external sovereignty, a permanent population, a government, independence from other states and powers, and the capacity to enter into relations with other sovereign states.

The ‘state’ of Palestine has borders defined by ceasefire lines that all the Arabs refused to define as permanent; about one third of its territory is controlled by Hamas which will not accept the authority of the state, its government, its constitution or agreements with other sovereign states;a Jewish population that wants to ethnic cleanse; a government that has finished its term and has no constitutional validity nor acceptance of its rule; can only survive on handouts from other states and powers and is currently occupied (as it never ceases to proclaim) by another state.

In short it will be as much independent as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia from 1945 to 1991.
