Twibbon – Start Something

Yom AtzmautGenerally speaking unless I’m really, really, really bored I avoid those cutesy Facebook apps. As much as I love you (you know who I mean) you’re not going to get virtual no-oyster-harmed pearls or a guaranteed zero-trans-fat birthday cake when I wish you Happy Birthday!

But when it comes to Israel’s birthday, Yom Hatzmaut I think Nefesh B’Nefesh are truly on to something with their twibbons. Hey, what better advocacy can you do than using the social networks? Other than coming to live here, of course which they also strongly encourage. 😉

The Twibbon application will superimpose a Magen David ribbon on your Facebook profile picture. Our walks-like-a-duck icon picture, to your left, models it here.

  • When you support this cause your avatar will be overlaid with the Twibbon and a support Tweet will posted on your behalf saying: Support #Aliyah to #Israel this Yom Haatzmaut! Add a #twibbon to your avatar now! – http://twibbon.com/join/Israel-Independence-Day-2010
  • They’ll also have you follow @NefeshBNefesh. (You can always unfollow them if you want).

… and at no extra cost

  • When you support this cause Nefesh B’Nefesh will create an album in Facebook called “Twibbons” and add the new image overlaid with the Twibbon above to it
  • They’ll also update your status to show your support saying: In honor of Yom Haatzmaut I just supported Aliyah to Israel by adding a Twibbon to my profile picture. Show your support now at http://twibbon.com/cause/Israel-Independence-Day-2010/facebook
