The tomb of Archbishop Balduin around 1285 – 1354 in Trier’s Church of our Lady. He was a very interesting man although a mixed blessing to the Jews. He was helped not least sophisticated financial policy, which he tried to realize by the scheduled settlement of Jews as “banks of the Middle Ages” in the entire archdiocese. OTOH although the Jews suffered during the Armleder uprising of 1336 and the Black Death persecutions of 1349 which led to the Jews leaving in 1349.
