The museum was in a building owned by Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812), a court Jew to the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel, in the Free City of Frankfurt in the late 18th century. He was the first of the famous Rotschild family that some antisemites still believe runs the world. The museum didn’t fudge the connection. There was even an exhibition about Jews and money. I’m sure someone drank the bottle of Chateau Rothschild before placing it in this exhibit.
